Hello and welcome to Willamette Valley. As your therapist, I will support and encourage you to deepen insight, develop healthy communication patterns, explore your emotions and integrate your thoughts, feelings and behaviors in what you will hopefully experience as meaningful and challenging work.
Approach to Counseling
I work with individuals, families and couples. I specialize in anxiety, depression and trauma and bring skills and training in the areas of relationship issues, grief & loss, career, and major life transitions. I work along side my clients using a variety of evidence based research practices including CBT, EMDR and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I welcome diverse thoughts, ideas, and people in my practice. I enjoy working with people who are thoughtful, sensitive and committed to their personal growth.
Who Am I?
I am the Founder of Willamette Valley Counseling, Co-Founder of Willamette Sky Counseling, and Co-Creator of A Penny For Your Thoughts – an internationally distributed communication game that playfully helps improve emotional intelligence and increase meaningful connection between children and adults.
While I bring a blend of academic and professional experience to inform my practice, it is perhaps my personal experience with therapy, and healing from parent suicide and loss during my childhood that has led me to believe deeply in the potential of therapy, the therapeutic relationship, and empathy as a means for change. I believe that feeling whole and connected despite history or circumstance, is entirely possible.
In addition to private practice, I've worked in community mental health and with The Trauma Healing Project in Eugene. My professional background also includes 15 years working in Communications for global technology corporations in San Diego and the Bay Area where I developed a profound awareness of the need for transparent communications, integrated work spaces and social and emotional integration in the workplace.
